Taking a New Path...

You know something? Over the past few days I've been having some internal conflicts as to which way to take my developing art skills. Shit knows where it really began, but I figure the Sonic picture I was working on for that contest (which I'm probably not going to do now, oh SNAPPITS!!) is where it began. See, in between coming up with multiple ideas and doing multiple pages for them (wasting an entire notebook of acrylic paper no less, though "wasting" ain't quite the proper term; as anyone else'll tell you, one failure will lead to it's opposite success somewhere down the line), it's just come to a point where I feel as though what I've been doing so far (yes, even as recent as the Cowboy Bebop pic) isn't working for me anyone...the process of putting it all together anyhow. This whole time I've been so focused on my acrylics yet have neglected so long to adequately use my other art talents in pencilling, inking, and color pencil/pastel work, and those very things could've made the other pictures a lot better IMHO. That said, at the time I was working ON those pics, I wasn't thinking of as sophisticated and grand ideas as I've been having currently, and with the greater ideas comes a semblence of needing to use some other tricks. Most certainly, I'll damn sure continue to keep working on my painting skills, but there's a really fucking good reason why I've been doing so much pencilling/inking and using color pencils and pastels...I couldn't have just picked them up only to do a few pics and then move off of them, and today's the day in which I've realized why I ever bothered to use them; somewhere down the road, I'd be needing them again to further myself as a whole artistically, and that time's finally come. So indeed, while I'm no longer working on that Sonic pic (my heart wasn't fully in it to begin with though tbh), something much greater's gonna come from that.

And speaking of which, I think another thing that's brought up the onset of this shift in artistic thinking has been that I've been (most very well likely) been going into ideas from the wrong perspective. In essence, I'm talkin' about going in for contest reasons and shit; I'm just not like that. The contests haven't been particularly inspiring for me and (as this latest Sonic contest's proven) have likely been more irritating for me. I'm just a more free-spirited sort of cat and I honestly don't think I give much of a fuck anymore about trying to PUBLICALLY outdo everyone else, as if needing awards and shit to prove that I'm better or not. Personally I know my own skill level; I'm nowhere near the best quite yet but I'm a shitload better than most others, but why boast about it? Not saying that contests serve only that purpose, but that's sort of what it's felt like for me. Another thing I've come to realize is that I've been hypocritical on my own word; that art should speak for itself. For any of you guys that have been around to my dA page and read those novel-length (or atleast end-of-semester college essay-length) descriptions, that certainly gives the impression of a guy who's doing the talkin' for his work rather than the other way around, and I'm pretty sure that's given the impression that I might be egotistic and/or smug, which isn't the case at all. So for now on, I truly am going to start following up on my word on that front; I won't be giving nearly as long descriptions anymore, as that info'll be locked in my dome unless the curious folk happen to wanna know a bit more about it. It's probably for the best really, though I DO still plan on talking about my pics and other projects as I work on them, on a bit-by-bit basis, sometime in the future (just not anytime soon I guess). And all of this coming on the eve of a possible job breakthrough (hehe more on that in another post though).

So there you go guys; my new outlook on how I'll be developing my artistic sensibilities. The end goal being to find a process that I'm most comfortable with, comes completely naturally, allows me to express myself and realize my ideas to the fullest (and learning new useful skills along the way), and work on more ideas that I genuinely like. So uh, there goes. See you later everyone, and live the day to it's end in fashion. Peace an' g'day everybody.

P.S: Don't know if you guys have heard of this already, but there's a new flick on the way called Caroline, helmed by one of my favorite directors, Tim Burton. I GOTTA see that trailer (and those of you in the same boat can join me in on that shit), and the movie of course as soon as possible.

Next Project...

Hey everyone how's it going?!? Welp for me--shit b/f I go any further I just didn't see three blog posts coming today, but alas here we are. But enough of that shit. I figure that since I said a long time back that I'd start using this blog to (for the time being) talk more of my art projects as I'm working on them-and yet I've yet to do that-, now would be a great time to commit to my word seeing as how I'm in the process of finalizing conceptualizations for a new project under wraps. That project, by the way, involves none other than my main (anthropologic) buddy Sonic the Hedgehog, and is being done as a contest entry over at dA (or for the uninformed, deviantART. And by the way, if you do fall into that catagory...big fucking shame on you. On the internet all this time and yet you don't know 'bout the dA?!?...Gimme your Geektag, PRONTO!!). Like any contest, the deadline's set and it grows closer by the day, and infact I only found out about the contest just a bit before the halfway mark so I'm definitely late to the game. All that said, I'm genuinely excited about this one. Well, I'm always excited about anything I do but this one's unique in that it's gonna be my first Sonic tribute (a retro-themed one at that) AND I get to poke fun at the little spikey bastard's fall. I've already got a solid idea in mind but for sake of preserving my baby until it's near the final stages I'll avoid talking about it in terms of it's story or meaning or theme in-depth or any shit like that until near it's final stages, which'll be atleast a week from this post.

So in that sense, expect updates on daily progress as I yet again get prepped to bring over newly learned tricks and yet learn a shitload of new ones at the same time. Whoever thinks art is just all about grabbing a utensil and working it over a sheet of paper or canvas and the image suddenly forming to original imagination needs to either get popped in the back of the head or get an art book and read up...then get popped in the back of the head w/ the art book (hey the pop's gotta factor in either way. Gotta have the crack--* * I meant pop guys. Meant pop........My hands are shaking all of the sudden. Sudden drip on the fucking forehead....uh oh...). Well anyway let's avoid that rant. You've got a basic understanding on my next piece, and I'll be updating progress daily around here until the projects blog is up (then likely transferring progress over there but hell I'll see if that blog even gets up first; I might not be working on enough projects to justify it just yet. We'll see). So until tomorrow folks, keep dreaming and live the dream when 'ya can't dream no mores. And throw out that copy of Shadow the Hedgehog; you're disgracing yourself. See 'ya and g'nite.

Another Artistic Expression Of Love...Starry Ed and Ein

Alright everyone, what's up?  Ugh, it's been a LONG day, what w/ going downtown taking the bus, waiting to be seen and get out the door, then going to get stuff scanned and whatnot, but damn was it all worth it.  Gotten business out the way, and now I can just lounge back (Duckman, I'm lookin'  at you; we are gonna have a FUN fuckin' blast!!).  That being said, there's one last piece of work to get to, and that concerns my latest artistic baby.  Lads and lasses, I present to you thee latest work of fan art...

...aahhhhhhhhhhh.....'tis so refreshing and invigorating to post this piece.  So much new techniques went into this one it's not even funny, and overall it was a fantastic journey.  And yes, that IS Ein on a self-propelling rocket, and Ed being her (yes Ed's a girl; go ahead loli perverts, an' have your sick fantasy but Ed'll impregnate you w/ a circuit conductor and crisp your ass out of the lewd wet dream, as you deserve) usual perky self.  For sake of my sanity I'll just refer to the dA link where it's uploaded, that way you can see it in all it's glory and read the hellishly long description if you so dare to make that choice.  Here goes..

  pic link: http://fingerscreatedestroy.deviantart.com/art/Let-s-Jazz-About-The-Coast-110271518

And of course my profile link:  http://fingerscreatedestroy.deviantart.com

Welp, I'm tired.  Well not really but I'm tired of typing so extensively; this is as good a mark as any to wrap it up.  I hope you guys enjoy the piece, and trust me, it's only the beginning.  Still more stuff to come from yours truly as I try out new techniques and am always looking for inspiration as much as it's looking for me.  See 'ya later, and g'nite.

P.S:  By the way, if any of you guys know of any Cowboy Bebop or just anime art clubs in general, or galleries looking for original work, lemme know.  I'd definitely like to get this shit around as I look and shif about in the meantime.  Later.

My '08'er Finished!!

(Accidentally pressed Enter after only typing the title) WHOOPS!! (Presses Edit button milleseconds after stupid mistakes) YIPEE!!.......SHUT UP!!!!  Hehe how's it going guys?  I suppose if you haven't seen the latest Angry Video Game Nerd episode (ah, the legendary Bible Games II,..legendary for ALL the wrong reasons), that reference means nothing to you.  Your lost.  Welp I've just decided to drop by to finally update this mug, and would 'ya believe, I've got a new pic on my deviantART page, one that I did not only in anticipation for SFIV, but also to close out '08 with some flair.  Like I just said, it's over on my dA account right now, and obviously I'll give you a link to my account from here, but for good and honest measure, how's about a posting of it here as well shall we?...

  Well.........here goes...........

and...THERE!!!  Seems like that worked.  First that ever having done it, and damn it seems pretty awesome.  There's quite a lot of words I could say 'bout this one but I already did that over on dA, SO, just for kicks, I'll post a link right here:  http://fingerscreatedestroy.deviantart.com/art/Reflections-Shotokan-Style-108029465.

So there you guy everybody; a fresh new piece, and while there you can check out my other pictures.  Better yet, here's a more direct link to those:

  http://fingerscreatedestroy.deviantart.com

Hope you guys enjoy what's there and don't rag me TOO bad over the obviously older stuff; I truly sense myself developing in a unique new direction and I'm gonna honestly see it through.  '09's gonna be awesome for sure.  As always, I'll see you guys later.  G'nite and keep doing yourselfs (not vulgarly of course, though at the same time.......).  Hehe, well anyways, later out.

Don't You Love Art?...

...I certainly do.  Of course, what exactly CAN be considered art fluxuates in meaning depending on who's talking.  For some, sports is art, and for others it can be recreating a devaststating natural disaster on a miniature scale using dust lint for the building blocks (yeah we move on from Legos at some point, but DUST LINT?  Eh to each their own I suppose).  For me, I tend to look at a good gauntlet of things as art (including video games, which don't garner that label at all but that's an argument/rant for another time and blog), but overall they're mostly the same things others view as art, not of least among them being animation and just great artwork in general.  In fact, as I was just watching episode two of Now And Then, Here And There (and about to watch the third after this post's done), I got the idea to just fucking go at right now and set this blog up, because when it comes to art, it should be something that's a spur of the moment and a passion that flows out as you work on it, and that's what this blogging shit's starting to boil down to in itself so, yeah,...let's get it set up.

In effect, pretty much anything I personally find interesting in terms of anime, manga, comics, cartoons, art (of varying types) and other forms of animation (like, eh, some people forgot that stop motion and claymation actually exist, as the same with puppetry,..speaking of that last one, I just saw this fucking hilarious and terribly cheesy Wiggles episode with some douche in yellow pointing at his sack for half the clip; I think he's warning people of a not-too-happy little present south of his border), just reviewing and ranting and giving introspectives, thoughts and other shit like so.  And as a matter of fact, I figure that I might as well get the festivities underway with a few reviews on Now And Then, Here and There, Key The Metal Idol (complete with re-watching), Hellsing (eh the manga I guess since I've read all the issues and seen the tv and OVAs so they're up for grabs as well), some Spawn, Mezzo, Naruto, Ratatoullie,...yeah you get the idea.  Maybe I shouldn't call them reviews though, since that (for me) gives the impression it's gonna be pretty bare bones when that obviously is anything but the case, but regardless, those are just some of the series that are gonna be flying around up in here.  Don't expect cosplay coverage, though; there's no fucking way I'm even getting close to touching that shit (and sorry to offend anyone who's into it;...actually no I'm not, since we're all entitled to our likes and dislikes and need to have the integrity of respecting other's likes and dislikes even if that's something on what you love doing.  To each their own.).

So there we go.  Another blog set into motion, and definitely the last for tonight.  I'm wanting to get the bed by at the LATEST 2:05, and there's a show for me to watch so here's the cutoff.  Wishing you all out there an awesome night and Monday, and God bless.  Later out.
